January 2–18, 2026 Grocery Hauls – Eight Trips in Two Weeks (Winter Is Flying By)

Posted on January 19, 2026

Hey friends,

I blinked and the first half of January vanished. My last post was over two weeks ago — how is that even possible? This winter is moving at warp speed. Between Tang Soo Do classes, homeschool wrapping up the semester, Christmas decorations still half-put-away, and the general holiday-to-school rhythm, time is slipping through my fingers like snow melting off the driveway.

One thing that hasn’t slowed down? These boys and their appetites. Four growing kids consume an astonishing amount of food. Every time I turn around the milk is gone, the bread is toast (literally), and the snack drawer looks like it was raided by squirrels. So we’ve been on the grocery treadmill — eight hauls in sixteen days. Eight. I counted. Here they are, straight from the kitchen island each time I walked in the door:

Eight hauls. Milk jugs, cereal boxes, bread bags, fruit, snacks, deli meats, frozen pizzas, eggs, cheese sticks, more milk, and whatever else the boys declared an emergency need that day. The fridge has been restocked more times in the last two weeks than I can count on one hand.

Four boys eat like they’re training for the Olympics. One day it’s cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, chicken nuggets after practice, and dinner at 6 p.m. The next day they’re “starving” at 3:30 p.m. and raiding the snack drawer like it’s a buffet. I’m convinced they have a second stomach just for Goldfish crackers.

But even in the blur — the endless unpacking, the “Mom, we’re out of milk again,” the late-night restocks — I keep coming back to the same quiet truth: He provides. Day after day, bag after bag, meal after meal. The same God who fed the Israelites with manna is still feeding us — sometimes with kale and chicken, sometimes with cereal and milk. And it’s always enough.

So here’s to the fast-moving winter days, the overflowing grocery carts, and the kids who eat like tomorrow might not come (spoiler: it always does). Grateful for every trip to the store, every full fridge, and every moment around this table.

What’s the one food your kids devour faster than you can buy it? The one that makes you laugh-cry at the grocery store? Drop it below — solidarity in the snack struggle is real.

With a full pantry and a grateful heart,

P.S. More hauls (and hopefully slower time) coming in 2026. Stay tuned! 🛒❄️
